The Mindful Sojourner
"Awaken to the sacred seasons of scripture, and cultivate mindfulness for daily life."
Feeling overwhelmed by the pace of modern life and yearning for something that brings peace? The Mindful Sojourner invites you into the rhythm of the Christian liturgical year, where scripture and mindfulness intersect.
Guided by Rev. Rachel Isabell, MDiv, this podcast serves as a contemplative guide that leads you through the enriching liturgical readings of the Christian year. Each episode includes a mindfulness moment for deeper contemplation. Discover how ancient texts and the wisdom of Christian mysticism can illuminate your path for a more present, faith-filled life.
The Mindful Sojourner
Pilot Episode
In this first episode of The Mindful Sojourner, Rev. Rachel Isabell introduces the journey we will take together each week. We examine how the liturgical calendar originated in the early Church and why Christians continue to observe it today. We also learn more about the Christian mystics and reflect on the life of Julian of Norwich, a mystic who spoke of God’s love in the midst of plague and church division.
The episode closes with a breath prayer, a mindfulness practice that you can carry into your own week. New episodes will be released every Wednesday, along with resources coming soon to help you stay connected. Subscribe, share with a friend, and consider supporting the show to help this ministry continue to grow.
